What is my LINK internship?

My LINK internship is going to be incorporated with a medical internship/teaching program called RMEC (Resources for Medical Education and Collaboration). The idea of this program is to provide medical education and collaboration to advance evidence based medicine and to improve health care quality. The reason I'm going into this program for my internship is that I want to go into medical research and cardiology. The people that run RMEC assembled a specific program that fits me. I will be working with a spine surgeon and working with spine and orthopedic study.

LINK Project Proposal
My internship is called RMEC and it stands for Resources for Medical Education and Collaboration. This organization’s purpose is to improve health care quality by supporting education and collaborative research, locally and globally. The program provides many educational conferences and provides many internship opportunities. This program helps people who are interested in pursuing a medical career by working hands-on with other medical officials and doctors in the field. My reason for choosing this program was because I want to pursue a career in cardiology research.
I faced a lot of challenges with the application process. One of the complications was the essay I was supposed to write for the application papers. This paper took a week or two to write and unfortunately some of my procrastination experience came into play when I didn’t write this paper until a few weeks before it was due. Another one of the complications was the requirements to get into the program. I required a TB test to get into my internship, but the only place in town that I could get a test before my internship started was closed down because of a mercury problem in the building. So, my last resort was to go to Los Angeles and pay a visit to my old pediatrician and get the test there.
I don’t truly have a concrete project idea, but I have a basic idea. I’m going to create a PowerPoint presentation or a Windows Movie Maker presentation conveying knowledge that I received throughout my experience about the heart and the work involved with cardiology. This movie is going to include a lot of the information I learned there, excluding the information protected by HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). A lot of the information I’m going to be providing will be my personal experience at the internship as a lot of the personal data and information will be confidential, so I will be limited to knowledge of the heart and experience I may have retrieved during the process.
My mentor is a spine surgeon at Mercy Medical Center. His name is Dr. Orndorff and he will be showing me the works of a hospital and a work day there and I will be able to view surgery, so the experience will be interesting. The program is really based around the Spine and Orthopedics center, but the program was able to provide me with a mentor and program that fits my specific career needs. When thinking about this internship program, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to find a doctor or a program within this program within another program.
To be honest, I have not researched or done much to prepare for my internship yet. I believe that for my internship, we’re going to be learning a lot about the heart and cardiology. Most of the program would include using people skills and common sense, so preparing for it is as basic as practicing waking up early, using more common sense daily, and becoming more social.
This internship is good for my career goals because I want to pursue a career in either cardiology research or bio engineering. This internship is good for learning more about the heart and cardiology.
